Carlsen Funeral Home And Crematory - 301

Tracey "Hooch" W. Craft

  6/15/1972 - 1/21/2010

Aberdeen, SD-Memorial service for Tracey “Hooch” W. Craft, 37, of Aberdeen will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE.

She died January 21, 2010 at her home.

Tracey Craft, daughter of Arthur Dean and Deborah (Garmon) Craft, Sr. was born June 15, 1972 at Columbia, South Carolina.  She grew up in Belton, South Carolina.  She worked in food service and in 2003 she moved to Aberdeen.  She began employment with Econo Foods, later working at Wyndham Hotel Group and currently was employed at Thattza Pizza.  She enjoyed her jobs, and worked really hard.

Tracey was the godmother of three, Katana and SaChelle Ramos-Demery and Devin Griffin. She spent a lot of time with Katana and SaChelle, going to the park, playing and going shopping.  They enjoyed her company and would always say “come play, Tracey!”

Her friends were very important to her.  She was an independent woman and very straight forward with others. She was a great person and very outgoing.  She could get along with just about anyone.  Hooch did not have any family here in Aberdeen, so she considered her friends as her family.  She had a huge support group of friends, from all walks of life.  Including the group she started, known as the S.C.A.R.F. Club and many others.

She loved to stay busy with crafting or doing puzzles.  She enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola items for fun.  She lived for Sunday football and liked watching television, seeming to have a favorite program on every night of the week.  Hooch was well known around the community as the “Karaoke Girl”.  Karaoke was her life; she attended as many as she could throughout the week.  Every year Shenanigans Bar & Grill puts on a karaoke contest for WeFest, and every time she qualified, but this last time she qualified in the first round.  She was so excited!

Survivors include her mother, Deborah Parks of Lexington, SC and two brothers, Arthur Dean Craft, Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Alton Craft of New Mexico.

A memorial page has been set up on www.myspace.com/Hooch1212010.

If anyone would like to contact the family, you may do so by calling, Tracey’s brother, Dean Craft, Jr. at 865-258-9009.

Condolences may be sent to www.carlsenfh.com

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen have been entrusted with arrangements.

I have read that online memorials offer comfort to the family when losing a loved one. That is why I would like to once again extend my sympathies to Tracey's family on the loss of thier family member. Tracey's friends miss her and think of her often.

As I think of Tracey, I am reminded of her favorite songs and the kind of music she loved. "That kind of music just soothes the soul , I reminisce about the days of old". Tracey was loved and will be missed.

Wow Tracy.............Just can't beleive your gone. They say God only takes the best and he did. Us all left behind will feel it forever. You touched so many lives and will be remembered for ever. Meeting you at Karaoke was awesome, and getting to know you was even better. Thanks for singing my song everytime we were there that I asked you to sing.........Before he cheats.....And so many others that you sang were great. God took you from us all to soon, but we al have to except it, and move on like I beleive you would want us to. Living life to the fullest, bringing so much happiness to so many others, putting a smile on every one's face and so much more. She was like a sister, a best friend, and will forever be a part of my heart and soul. I love her and miss her dearly! I will be giving you a call today Dean, we talked a few times on the phone over the last few years, it has been a long time but I would love to share stories of Tracey together!

I am so sorry to hear of Tracey's death. I moved from Aberdeen 2 years ago, but before I left I had the privilege to get to know her. I loved going to a karaoke show and seeing her there...I knew I would be entertained, not only with her talented vocals, but her uncanny ability to make everyone around her laugh. She will be truly missed.
