Milo Sayler

Ashley, ND-Funeral service for Milo Sayler, 78, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 8, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley.  The Rev. Sharon Korsmo will officiate.  Flag presentation by Frank Piper American Legion Post #53.

 

Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at Mandan, ND.  

 

There will be a prayer service 7 pm Sunday with visitation from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.

 

He died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at his home.  

 

Milo Sayler, son of Gottlieb L. and Emma (Guthmiller) Sayler was born March 23, 1931 on the family farm three miles southeast of Venturia, ND.  He attended country school and worked on the family farm.  He entered the United States Army in October of 1951 and was stationed in Alaska.  He was honorably discharged in October of 1953.  He then worked for a short time in Minneapolis, MN in manufacturing.  He returned to the family farm. 

 

He was united in marriage to Darlene Maas on October 21, 1956 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley.  They made their home a half a mile east of his parent’s farm.  In 1960, they purchased the family farm and were general farmers raising livestock and small grains until his retirement in November of 2000.  They moved to Ashley in 2000. 

 

Milo enjoyed card playing with friends and going fishing with his sons and son-in-laws.  He liked gardening and yard work.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frank Piper American Legion Post #53 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign War.      

 

Survivors include his wife, five daughters, Brenda (Larry) Baum of Ashley, Kimberly (Larry) Knox and Collette (Scott) Werre, both of Brookings, SD, Angela (Troy) Eisenbeisz of Aberdeen and Melissa (Kris) Hexom of West Fargo, two sons, Jody (Janice) Sayler of Glenham, SD and Michael (Julie) Sayler of Ashley, one brother, Elmer (Lillian) Sayler of Aberdeen, three sisters, Lorraina Knoepfle of Hosmer, SD, Caroline (Eldo) Miller of Ashley and Evangeline (Dennis) Brenna of Sun City, AZ, 13 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, ten great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

 

His parents, two sisters, Viola Haar and Joyce Hieb and three brothers, Milton, Walter and Clyden preceded him in death.

 

Honorary Casketbearers will be granddaughter’s Amanda Whittrock, Kristen Knox, Jeana Sayler, Jennifer Meier and Jessica Sayler.

 

Casketbearers will be grandsons, Dennis Gerber, Jr., Shawn Gerber, Chad Knox, Joseph Sayler, Eric Werre, Tyler Werre, Hunter Eisenbeisz, Brady Eisenbeisz and Connor Hexom.  

 

The organist will be Donna Heupel; the soloist is Lana Christmann and a piano solo by Janice Sayler.

 

The family prefers memorials be made to Ashley Medical Center Hospice, PO Box 450, Ashley, ND 58413.

Our sympathies are with you all during this time of sadness, His struggles are over , and now is at peace... I will remember his little visits to the senior center, just to make sure that Darlene and I were working, and not loafing.. love and hugs to you, Donna and Delbert
