Cheryl Lea McCarty

Cheryl Lea McCarty, 69, of Hitchcock, SD, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Redfield Community Memorial Hospital.

No formal services will be held at this time.

Cheryl was born June 10, 1954, in Miller, SD, to Wayne and Mavis (Snyder) Ganske. Growing up you would find Cheryl helping on the family farm and riding and spending time with her horses, Penny and Princess.

In October of 1972, she married the love of her life Timothy McCarty in St. Lawrence, SD. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Angelina Mae, Shanna Rae, and Miranda Lynn. 

Her hobbies included gardening, canning, making jewelry, playing computer games, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grand babies.

Cheryl is survived by her children Angelina (Rick) Shult, Shanna (Ryan) Hughes, and Miranda McCarty; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandbabies (plus one due in November). She is also survived by her brother Charles (Sara) Ganske; her sister JoEllen (Ted) Schlechter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tim; her parents Wayne and Mavis; and one great-granddaughter Raelynn Mavis.
