Barbara Ann Bauer

Eureka, SD-Funeral Service for Barbara Ann Bauer, 76, of Eureka will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Zion American Lutheran Church in Eureka. Rev. Ryan Gage will officiate. The service will be live streamed at www.Carlsenfh.com under Barbara’s obituary.

Burial will be in Hoffnungstal Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 7:00 pm, Friday, with visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Barbara died August 11, 2022, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Barbara Ann Kurle, daughter of Eugene and Verna (Gill) Kurle was born July 31, 1946, in Eureka, SD. This is where she grew up, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1964. She then attended Northern State College and later worked in Mobridge at an insurance company but soon moved back to Eureka where she became employed at Northwest GF Mutual Insurance.

Barbara was united in marriage to Jerry Bauer on May 15, 1966, in Eureka Methodist Church. They made their home on the Bauer farm, 15 miles southwest of Eureka. This is where she raised their five sons as well as taking a continually active role in the farm operation. She and Jerry retired in 2014 but continued to make their home on the farm. In 2015, they started spending their winters in Apache Junction, AZ. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there.

Barbara cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She loved being a caretaker to them all. Barbara’s faith in her Lord was very important to her and she lived with his love and guidance every day.

She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church and numerous ladies’ groups in Apache Junction near their winter home.

Grateful for having shared Barbara’s life are her husband of 56 years, Jerry; five sons, Stacey (Tracy) Bauer of Owatonna, MN, Brian (Tammy) Bauer of Douglasville, GA, Eric (Rachel) Bauer of Volga, SD, Matthew (Jenni) Bauer of Pierre, SD and Jordan (Jackie) Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth (Patty) Kurle of Eureka and Randy (Michelle) Kurle of Fergus Falls, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Jaycee Bauer and Jensen Bauer.

Casketbearers will be Tyler Hanson, Austin Bauer, Chandler Bauer, Logan Bauer, Andrew Aman, and Alex Aman.
