Beverly Werner Obituary

Beverly Ann Werner, 86, passed away peacefully April 11, 2022, at the Human Service Center, Yankton, South Dakota. Beverly was born on July 9, 1935, to Paul and Goldie Jones of Sherwood, North Dakota. Following graduation from Sherwood High School in 1953, she worked as a telephone operator in Bismarck, North Dakota. She married Clarence "Curley" Werner on October 16, 1954. Five children were born from this union. They resided in Bismarck until May 1964 when they then moved to Valley City, North Dakota. In September 2010, Curley passed, and she moved to Cottonwood, Arizona where she resided for ten years. In June 2021, she moved to South Dakota due to a decline in her health.

Beverly was active in the Valley City community, serving in various positions on the Women's Golf Association, Animal Husbandry, Women's Bowling League, as well as serving as Assistant Director of the 2nd Crossing Gallery for 10 years. She was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed her time on the leagues. For 28 years she was Director of the Communication Center of the North Dakota Winter Show, where she was affectionately known as "the Voice". She was the bookkeeper for the family business, Circle Masonry, for 22 years.

She was creative and expressed her artistic skill in a variety of mediums including photography, stained glass, and pottery. She was a talented and prolific quilter, hand stitching many of the quilts. She never saw a project or task that was insurmountable. She loved raising outdoor flowers but much to her frustration could never get peonies to grow in the desert climate of Arizona.

She believed in God and was especially attuned to His wonders displayed in nature and the beauty around her.

She is survived by five children, Shauna (Brent) Klipfel of Aberdeen SD, Teresa (Rob McKlem) Gorder of Cottonwood, AZ, Nyla (Tony) Yanish of Oriska, ND, Sheila Wallace of Nashville, TN and James (Carol Rongholt) Werner of Cornville, AZ. Nine grandchildren, Sasha (Scott) Dalgliesh, Jordan (Ryann) Klipfel, Jennifer (Chris) Hanna, Timothy (Samantha) Yanish, Daniel and Christopher Yanish, Kaylen Allen, Cody and Dorian Werner. Nine great grandchildren Miranda and Hanna Beach, Samuel Dalgliesh, Jason Boreen, Piper and Kimberly Klipfel, Christopher Hanna, Abbigail and Olivia Yanish. One great great granddaughter Veda Tamo. Two brothers Leroy and Marvin Jones, one sister-in-law Beverly Tonander and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Curley Werner, parents Paul and Goldie Jones, sisters Gloria Mayer and Pauline Schweitzer and their spouses Don and Everett. She was Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
