Evelyn Rose Nikolas, 78, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Evelyn Rose Eiseman was born August 4, 1944, to Adam and Katie (Ladner) Eiseman in Eureka, South Dakota.  She attended elementary and high school in Eureka and graduated in 1962.  Following graduation, Evelyn moved to Aberdeen where she studied to be an X-Ray Technician at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Evelyn worked as an X-Ray Tech for Dr. Leon in Aberdeen and worked in Redfield for a short time.  She then began working at St. Luke’s Hospital and worked there until her retirement. While working at St. Luke’s she met her husband Philip “Flip” Nikolas.  They were married on April 21, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Evelyn had a very active life outside of her work.  She was very involved in several organizations such as Questers-The Yellow Brick Road Chapter, her X-Ray Technician Organization, St. Luke’s Auxiliary Member, and volunteered at the Dakota Prairie Museum.  Evelyn was also very involved in her church. She was a Lector and helped with other activities and projects within the church.

Evelyn and Flip loved to travel together and spent a lot of time going antiquing.  She spent many hours during the summer playing golf.  Evelyn was an avid reader and had a very strong love for animals.  Cats were her favorite and held a big place in her heart.  Evelyn also enjoyed spending time with her many friends whom she cared for deeply.

Grateful for having shared Evelyn’s life are her husband Philip “Flip” of Aberdeen; brothers-in-law John Ell of Redfield, SD, Robert Nikolas of Aberdeen, Tim (Eileen) Nikolas of Aberdeen, David (Cindy) Nikolas of Aberdeen, Tommy (Jane) Nikolas of Maplewood, MN, Donn Kuhfeld of Mina, SD; Sisters-in-law MaryAnn Nikolas of Aberdeen, Sharon Nikolas of Aberdeen, Pauline (Jerry) Winjum of Lakewood, CO, and Joan Nikolas of Spearfish, SD.  Evelyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Irene Ell; one brother, Bruno Eiseman; brothers-in-law Edward Nikolas, Leroy Nikolas, William Nikolas, Henry “Hank” Nikolas; and sisters-in-law Sister Mildred Nikolas, Madonna Kuhfeld, Lyla Nikolas, Kay Nikolas, Gerri Nikolas, and Delilah Eiseman.
