Gerianne passed away peacefully surrounded by close family on June 21, 2022 at her home in Aberdeen, SD, after her battle with cancer.

Gerianne was born on July 3, 1960 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD to Richard and Betty (LeBrun) Drapeaux. Gerianne grew up developing a love for dance at the Johnny Cavelle Dance Studio, where she nurtured her passion for 15 years, met lifelong best friends and performed in quite memorable costumes that her children came to appreciate many years later upon finding the pictures. Known for her natural beauty, Gerianne once won runner up at a Miss Aberdeen Junior pageant combining her good looks and incredible dance talent.

In the Fall of 1978, Gerianne went to the University of Minnesota to pursue her goal of becoming a lawyer. While she pivoted to Public Administration, she spent the entirety of her life “practicing” law by winning every argument with her husband. Gerianne moved back to Aberdeen and eventually got her master’s in public administration.

In the Spring of 1982, she married the love of her life Steve Pfeiffer and in the same year welcomed her first and only daughter Sarah. Following Sarah, Gerianne and Steve added sons John, Max and Sam to the family which cemented Gerianne’s position as “super mom”. Whether it was driving kids to 1,000 different sporting events or hosting endless parties, there was nothing that she wouldn’t do to make her kids happy.

During her child rearing years Gerianne and Steve bought a small cabin at Pickerel Lake. Over the years, the small cabin grew to a large, beautiful space that enabled Gerianne to do one of her favorite things in the world: entertain people. Summers were spent cooking for the masses, taking long pontoon rides and watching her children grow up on the lake, which was very special to Gerianne.

Once her kids were officially out of the house and onto college, Gerianne persuaded Steve to buy a house in Scottsdale, AZ where they went on to spend much of the winter months. In a matter of months, Gerianne built many friendships with women from all over the country who also escaped from the cold to beautiful AZ.  Between Aberdeen, Pickerel Lake and Scottsdale Gerianne amassed a long list of amazing friends who loved her for the one-of-a-kind friend she was.

All who were lucky enough to know her remember that Gerianne loved life. Whether it was shopping, playing the slot machines, shopping some more depending on the winnings, she made everyday moments special with her huge smile and witty sense of humor. She made everything more fun and has a starring role in countless stories that can’t necessarily be repeated.

Gerianne’s life changed forever when she became a grandmother. Nothing gave her more pride than sharing pictures and stories about her seven grandchildren. She also found shopping to be even more rewarding once it involved spoiling them. Amongst the many reasons Gerianne fought so hard not to leave this Earth, not being able to snuggle her grandchildren was right at the top of the list.
