Goldie Shirley Nitschke

Ashley, ND-Memorial Service for Goldie Shirley Nitschke, 91, of Ashley will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Carlsen Funeral Home. Deacon Deb Cantrell will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Goldie's obituary.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley.

Goldie died March 15, 2021 at Ashley Nursing Home.

Goldie Shirley Berreth, daughter of Reinhold and Ella (Neiffer) Berreth was born November 14, 1929 at Bentley, ND. Her family later moved to Forbes, ND where she received her education through the eighth grade.

She was united in marriage to Roland Nitschke on October 21, 1951 in St. Mark's United Methodist Church at Forbes, ND. They made their home and started their own farming operation seven miles northeast of Ashley, raising small grains, cattle, chickens, and milking cows by hand. Goldie retired from farming when she moved to the Ashley Nursing Home in April of 2009. Her husband, Roland died January 16, 2018.

Goldie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Frank Piper American Legion Post #53 Auxiliary. Goldie loved farm life and especially raising chickens and milking cows. She loved to cook and bake for her family and enjoyed embroidery.

Grateful for having shared Goldie's life are her son, Kenneth (Donna) Nitschke of Ashley; daughter, Shirlene (Gary) Roller of Bismarck; three grandchildren, Dustin Nitschke of Coon Rapids, MN, Marcie (Ryan) Brokaw of Forbes and Travis Roller of Bismarck; three great-grandchildren, Trent and Avery Brokaw and Grady Nitschke and one niece, Gloria (John) Larson of Independence, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, one brother, three nephews and one great-nephew.

Urnbearers will be Goldie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Ashley Nursing Home-Activities, PO Box 450, Ashley, ND 58413.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
