Sandra died August 9, 2022, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Sandra M. Holmes-Post was born on November 11, 1950, to Mollie Mae (Holsworth) Holmes and Lester Levi Holmes at Forbes, ND.

Except for a couple of years spent in Seattle, WA she was raised in Forbes and graduated from the Forbes School, after which she attended Atlantic School in Kansas City, MO.

In 1969 she accepted a position with Emery Air Freight in Chicago, IL, at O’Hare Airport where she spent the next 22 years in various positions. Prior to leaving in 1991 she had attained the position of Operations Manager in the Midway Office. During her time at Emery, she made friends that are still friends to this day.

In late 1991 she accepted a managerial position with Air Express International later to become DHL Global Forwarding. Both of these companies were the largest freight forwarders in the world during their time.

Over the years she received several promotions both local and corporately, but the one she enjoyed the most was the position of Regional Quality Manager. In this position she and her team were responsible to monitor compliance and sustainability of the companies ISO 9000 processes. This position allowed her to travel around the country monitoring ISO compliance while at the same time meeting many co-workers who became close friends. She retired in June of 2013 from DHL only to return in 2014 for seven months as consultant.

Sandi considered herself to be very fortunate to be able to travel extensively around the world and within the United States. Her favorite, however, was England, Wales, and Scotland where she visited on several occasions, touring several different cities and historical sites in all three countries. Overall, she was able to visit 26 countries and 35 different United States states including Alaska and Hawaii.

Once she retired for good, she spent time on her hobbies of painting, drawing, cross stitch, golf, gardening, antiquing, and spending time with family and friends.

Sandi is survived by her brother, Roy Holmes, niece Rhiana Holmes, brother-in-law David Fleming, niece, Cathy Fleming (Nate) Morris, Cory (Tiffany) Fleming, sister-by-choice, Pam O’Neill, niece and nephew by choice Elizabeth and Doug Erber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and Todd, sister, Mary Holmes Fleming and brother-by-choice, Jim O’Neill as well as D.O.G., Dos, Rio, Riley, and Bella.

Honorary Urnbearers will be Sandi’s nieces and nephews.
