Sandy K. Dunkel

Aberdeen, SD-Funeral Service for Sandy K. Dunkel, 73, of Aberdeen will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Joseph Hauer will officiate.

There will be visitation Tuesday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Sandy died August 26, 2022, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen.

Sandra Kay, daughter of Roy and Dolly (Blowers) Landphere was born February 8, 1949, in Minot, ND. This is where she grew up and received her education, graduating from high school in 1967. Sandy was united in marriage and her husband was then drafted into the Vietnam War while she was pregnant and expecting their first child. She then returned home to live while he was away. After his discharge from the military, they made their home in Minot. Sandy was a homemaker and working miscellaneous jobs to raise money for home improvements. Their family spent many summers at her family cabin at Strawberry Lake.

In early 2000, Sandy moved to Aberdeen to be close to her daughter, DeeAnn and family. When she was relaxing, she liked to read, do puzzles, and always liked to play Bingo.

Grateful for having shared Sandy’s life are her daughter, DeeAnn (Jeff) Walz of Aberdeen; son, Rod (Shelly Baio) Dunkel of Madison, WI; three grandchildren, Katie, Kyle, and Austin; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Claire, and Harvey; brother, Randy (Barb) Landphere of Minot, ND and sisters, Sheryl (Paul) Albertson and Shelly Leifson, both of Minot, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Russ Landphere and special friend, Jerry Mock.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
